What should I know before attending Dream Group?
Dream Group is a community of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. It’s a place where all are welcome and respected regardless of religion, gender, orientation, sex, race, country of origin or citizenship status. We come together in a sacred and loving manner to honor our dreams, imaginations, and synchronicities. When you come to Dream Group, leave your inner critic and inner skeptic at the door and allow for an open-hearted experience of magic. (You can reclaim your inner critic and skeptic when you leave and review your experiences.)
Dream Group spans 2 hours and typically includes: Opening, Introductions, Shamanic Journey, Sharing Dreams, Reviewing Action Plans, Discussing Synchronicities, Questions & Comments, and Closing.
Dream Group offers opportunity for personal growth and healing but it’s not therapy.
In Dream Group we open ourselves to possibilities and play. When we take action to honor our dreams, synchronicities, and visions, we invite the support of the powers that speak to us through these avenues and we open gateways for transformation, joy, and a deep feeling of being alive. Dream Group provides a safe community for each person to make their own progress. Folks get out of Dream Group what they put into it. The responsibility for growth is within each dreamer. Each person is afforded an opportunity to share and to do so within their comfort zone. You are welcome to leave your video camera off, but you will be asked to unmute your microphone for brief times of sharing such as introducing yourself and sharing the title from your journey. Each dreamer is responsible for deciding what their experience means to them and how they will honor their experiences, as well as taking responsibility for pacing themselves. If you are going through transition and need support, Dream Group can be part of your team, but should not replace other resources such as therapy.
Can I come to Dream Group if I can’t remember any dreams or if I only remember fragments or if I only have nightmares?
Absolutely! Folks can come to Dream Group and never share a dream. Participants hear others share dreams and have the opportunity to volunteer what they would do if that were their dream or how hearing that dream resonates in their life.
Even a dream fragment can provide important information and lead to transformation.
Nightmares happen. While it might seem like Dream Group abounds with rainbows and unicorns, a lot of important work happens when we address nightmares and the messages they convey.
I have so many dreams! How do I decide which one to share?
You can’t go wrong with sharing a dream. Here are some things to consider. Our feelings are the strongest indicator of how powerful a dream is for us. Consider which dream evokes the strongest emotional response in you (positive or negative). Also listen to what is being said by others during Dream Group. You may feel the group relates to a specific dream or that your dream fits in thematically with the rest of the Dream Group. By each of us honoring our intuition we weave together themes, word play, and images. Experiment with trusting yourself!
What are the rules about sharing Dream Group? I think my friends would love it!
New folks are welcome! Please touch base with WinQuay and share this page with anyone who is interested in joining. You are always welcome to share what your personal experience of Dream Group means to you and are invited to share your personal dreams, journeys, and synchronicities as you are comfortable.
“What happens in group stays in group”. Our dreamers share amazing dreams and it’s absolutely vital that the group remain a safe space for people to share as openly as they want to share. There shall be no video or audio recording of dream group. (If you’d like to take a group picture or a screen shot please ask in advance and those who consent can stay to take the picture after group is over. ) We respect folks’ privacy by not sharing anyone else’s experiences (dreams, journeys, synchronicities) or personally identifiable information.
Please note that WinQuay keeps a journal for Dream Group which logs the title of the dream, the action plan, and the bumper sticker. The log does not indicate the name of the dreamer and is used so that dreamers can be prompted to report back on their action plans. Why? Because taking action accelerates the magic in our lives!
Is Dream Group Serious and Hard work?
Dream Group is serious fun. We come to Dream Group to play better games. It’s fun to honor our dreams and to explore our imaginations and reconnect with the creativity we naturally enjoyed as children. Participants are encouraged to make group as much fun as possible. Feel free to dress in costume, wear a fun hat, or introduce yourself by a new name. Dream Group is Play Time!
Serious topics can and do come up and are treated with respect. It’s OK to cry in Dream Group. Sometimes we have to feel the sadness to get our happiness back.
How should I prepare and what should I bring to Dream Group?
Come with a sense of humor, an open heart and open mind and be willing to listen and share so that whatever needs to be said may be said and whatever needs to be heard may be heard.
Please prepare by having a quiet space. Many people find journeying easier in a darkened room, so if your area is brightly lit, you may want to bring a sleep mask or scarf to cover your eyes.
It’s helpful to have a drink and snacks on hand, as well as paper, pencils, crayons, etc. to draw notes about journeys.
Please test out your technology to link to the online group ahead of time. WinQuay opens the call 15 minutes early and Dream Group starts on time. It’s especially nice for new folks to come a few minutes early and settle in before starting.
Feel free to contact WinQuay with questions or comments.
